Established In 1987, CADE (founded as the Corporate Alliance for Drug Education), began as a unique collaboration between the private and public sectors. CADE set out to tackle the problem of substance abuse by providing education and prevention services to Philadelphia's elementary school-aged children. Since 1987, CADE has taught approximately 375,000 children in schools and neighborhood across Philadelphia, in Camden, and in Norristown. Capitalizing on the maxim "the early bird gets the worm," CADE starts with children in kindergarten and follows them as they grow, providing both classroom and community-based activities along the way. In January 2008, CADE selected Dianne Reed as its new Executive Director. CADE is extremely fortunate to welcome Dianne, who has distinguished herself in public service and nonprofit administration over several years to the benefit of the greater Philadelphia region. Her outstanding leadership ability and excellent relationships with decisionmakers at all levels of government are certain to serve CADE and all its stakeholders very well. Ellie Boyarski, CADE's previous Executive Director for the last four years is moving on. Ellie led CADE with dedication, verve, skill and an unflappable good humor. She leaves our organization in great shape to expand our programs and bring our services to an even greater number of at-risk children. We hope you'll use this site to learn more about CADE, and also about substance abuse and violence prevention and education. There are many resources here for parents, teachers, and children, and anyone who cares about raising a generation of healthy and happy children. We welcome your comments, and your support. Thank you.
