CADE is
Philadelphia’s leading, elementary and middle school-based drug,
alcohol, and violence prevention program. Each year, CADE serves nearly
40,000 Philadelphia public school children by
helping them learn to make smart
decisions.
Bill and
Nancy Giles received a ceremonial bat made entirely by hand from a
tightly-grained piece of rare Pennsylvania tiger maple—in recognition of
their longstanding support of CADE. The commemorative bat was made by a
team at Irion Furniture Makers.
Along with
Bill and Nancy Giles, the first annual CADE Awards Ceremony recognized
Principal Jack Hamilton, from Thurgood Marshall School in North
Philadelphia, and also recognized 10 “CADE Kids” for their program
participation and commitment to personal excellence.
Guests were
treated to a rousing Mummers string band performance, and participated
in a live and silent auction.
