Specialists often serve as a link between schools and their community by teaching in after-school programs, including PAL centers. During the summer they work in neighborhood day camp programs. While performing alternative activities, skill building is enhanced and lessons learned at school are reinforced. Specialists also assist with local anti-drug marches, health fairs and other special events. These programs prove succesful to a diversity of neighborhoods and residents across the city.

Deputy Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson, supporter of CADE's “Weed and Seed” projects in both North and West Philadelphia. Others in the collaboration include the DEA, DA, National Guard, U.S. Attorney, and community safe havens.
